LDS Prophecy -Preparedness and Reasons Why
The articles below were put together by Amber Satterwhite, and were posted in the Misc.Survivalism newsgroup in late October 1997. The data and information were taken from public church records, which are available on at least 2 different CD Roms that I personally am aware of.–Infobases being one. Amber put these together and also sent them to me to post on this website.
I want to take this opportunity to publically thank Amber for taking the time and a great amount of energy to make these available to the rest of us in a format that is at once, both timely and succinct, and wonderfully edited to boot.
One last word from me before you begin your journey thru this section of my website. I have only been a member of the LDS church since 1984, although my wife and her family have connections to the church back several generations. In 1989, I received my Patriarchal Blessing, a few words of wisdom and love, and guidance, from my Lord by way of the Patriarch of our Ward in Lewisville, Texas. In this, I have seen many things come to pass that were mentioned. The one that surprised me most, but at this very point in my life is so pervasive in everyday thought, pertained to my being in positions of leadership and helping a great many people. I would never have even conceived of what I am accomplishing right now with my website, my webring, and contacts and friends all over the WORLD, in helping share the belief of preparedness with compassion!
This has most definitely come to pass. In 1991, I was able to finally visit the LDS Temple in Dallas, Texas, and to repeat the vows of marriage to my wonderful wife Annie. My children, then still very young, were also sealed to us for all eternity. It was a wonderful experience, made even more special by having two coworkers, one being my employer, able to enter the Temple and share the day with us, as well as members of our family. I have studied many, many things thruout the years, looking for, and finding , the answers I sought in most. This entire website gives you an idea of my interests, my dreams, my desires, and my goals. My love for my family is only topped by my love for my Lord.
I felt the need to share some of the things I found, and have been aware of, regarding the LDS church that I feel makes it so special to me. Being prepared, always, is something that most churches teach and espouse. Preparing for the return of our Lord, Jesus Christ, for the eternal Kingdom, for everlasting salvation, for the final and forever reunion of our dear departed loved ones. All these are so worthy of our hard work, and blood, sweat, and tears. We must make every effort, with every fiber of our being, if we are to be successful in the realization of our goals. Being prepared should be a big part of everyone’s everyday life.
However,no church I have found puts that goal and the fulfillment of those thoughts of being prepared as high in priority as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From food storage programs at all levels, to Bishops Storehouses helping the needy and less fortunate all over the world, to church owned and operated farms and ranches all over this country and others, to relief society programs and socials that help families grow up strongly and closely, to Missionary programs that allow young men to learn so much about the Lord, themselves, and the importance of preparing for the future of us all…..I only want to say this. It is a wondrous and beautiful thing, that I hope that any reader might wish to truly, and completely, experience.
There are so many things going on in this world, that detract from beauty, love, compassion, and respect. The LDS church, as many other churches do, has many enemies that despise and mound hate and spite on the church and its members, because those detractors think THEIR belief is the ONLY true church, and that there is NO ROOM in this world for anybody else who might think otherwise. As with most any battle of religion, these skirmishes are fought with words, lies, half-truths, oft-repeated ill-delivered unsubstantiated rumors and innuendo, and outright deceit and mortal peril. In the church’s history, this has always occured, even unto the point of the governor of a United State of America putting out an order to terminate with prejudice any member of the church.
My belief, and the belief of some of my fellow Mormon friends, is that the Lord made this world big enough for ALL inhabitants to be able to worship in the sanctity of their chosen creed. Being LDS is what WE chose to do, because of our specific beliefs.
I’ve had many personal attacks against me for simply BEING a member of this church, but nothing I say here or anywhere else gives any person a right to be accusatory, derogative, and downright hateful about it, either via email, in chat online, or in person. AND these all came AFTER this page came online. Why is that?
There are entire organizations that exist to demote Mormons to nothing more than a ‘mere cult, somewhat large’. While THESE people, and those folks going around sniping and whining, continue to ‘bring in funding’ to support ‘their’ cause, I, and my friends and family, will be out on the road, helping those around us, assisting where we can, and actually seeing, and BEING, the bright side of life.
If I help someone who is down, who has a flat, who is stuck on the road, or simply needs bread and milk…I’ll take the time to help them…I ask them to help SOMEONE ELSE in the future….ONLY if they ask how they can repay me. If they don’t ask, I simply tell them “good luck, and hope I can help again.” If EVERYONE did this in this world, we wouldn’t have things like road rage, L.A. Riots, and running gun battles down city streets. Heck, Y2k would even be just one big pot luck supper with neighbor helping neighbors.
Because I care, I say these things in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
